The Story
Spllito was born from a simple need - making expense sharing easier for everyone. As someone who frequently shared expenses with friends and roommates, I realized there had to be a better way to manage shared costs without the complexity of existing solutions.
Most expense apps ask you to create an account, invite your friends, and get everyone to install something — all before you can split a single dinner bill. That friction is exactly backwards: the moment you need a bill splitter is usually the moment the bill arrives, and the people you're splitting with may never use the tool again. Spllito flips that around. You open the page, type names and amounts, and get a settlement answer you can screenshot into the group chat. No accounts, no invitations, no app store.
What Spllito Does
Spllito is a collection of free, browser-based calculators for shared expenses. The main calculator handles any group expense — trips, dinners, households — and works out the fewest payments needed to settle everyone up. Around it sit purpose-built tools for the situations people actually search for: splitting rent by room size, dividing a restaurant bill with shared appetizers, prorating utilities when a roommate moves mid-month, or working out fuel costs for a carpool.
Everything runs entirely in your browser. Your names, amounts, and results are never uploaded to a server — close the tab and they're gone, unless you choose to save or share them yourself. Alongside the calculators, our guides cover the messier human side of money: how to talk about fairness with roommates, what to do when incomes differ, and how to keep a group trip from ending in a spreadsheet argument.

Spllito has no premium tier, no paywalled features, and no plans to add either. The site is supported by advertising: we show ads through Google AdSense, and that revenue covers hosting and development.
